Our Office

At NJ Gonstead Chiropractic our goal is to help you become the best version of yourself. We want to help your body function optimally so that you can enjoy life to the fullest each day. In order for the body to work as intended, the nervous system needs to be free of any interference in order to properly communicate with the rest of the body.

A subluxation is a term used by Chiropractors that refers to the body having nerve interference caused by traumas, toxins and/or thoughts. When a subluxation occurs, the transmission of nervous system signals has been changed resulting in sub-optimal function of that area and potential areas to which the nervous system supplies. When you experience this change, you may notice you get sick more often, you have pain, or you just aren’t feeling the way you once did.

Dr. Yoo prides himself on providing the highest standards of chiropractic care, using specific analysis to remove these subluxations. This helps to allow the nervous system and your entire body to function at its optimum. When that happens, you will understand your body’s innate ability to heal itself, working as intended and in turn can restore your life!

“Chiropractic is specific, or it’s nothing.”

-BJ Palmer, the founder of Chiropractic

Gonstead System

Dr. Yoo will analyze each patient utilizing the 5 main criteria that Gonstead Technique evaluates then give you the specific Gonstead Adjustment

01

Visualization

Although quick, and not always known to the patient, the visualization of changes in movement and general posture will allow Dr. Yoo to begin to unravel the underlying problem.

04

Motion Palpation

By motioning out the spine, Dr. Yoo is able to evaluate the spine in order to determine if there are motion units that are being restricted in any of their typical movement.

02

Dr. Yoo will utilize a Nervoscope. The Nervoscope is a smaller handheld version of one of the initial exams that allows the Dr. Yoo to see where there are large differences in temperature between spine segments, which will indicate potential inflammation as well as nerve interference.

05

X-ray Analysis

When necessary, Dr. Yoo will utilize X-rays in order to help visualize and evaluate: joint and disc integrity, vertebral misalignments, ruling out pathologies or possible fractures, and accounting for any other abnormal findings that may be present. If X-rays are necessary, they will be taken in standing, weight bearing format in order to aid in the evaluation.

Dr. Gonstead once said, “To see is to know, Not to see is to guess”.

03

Static Palpation

Palpating (feeling) down the spine will allow Dr. Yoo to check for changes in muscle tautness, swelling or edema, turgidity of the skin, and/or tenderness which will further aid in the evaluation.

06

The Gonstead Adjustment

Each visit, Dr. Yoo will go through these evaluations in order to determine if an adjustment is necessary. If necessary, the adjustment performed is specific to the subluxations only.

The Gonstead adjustment utilizes only the doctor's hands and is delivered in a quick, gentle and specific manner.
